Dr. Bhagya Senaratne, Senior Lecturer, Department of Strategic Studies was offered the position of Postdoctoral Fellow of Global Asia at New York University Shanghai (NYUSH), China commencing in Fall 2022. She makes history in being the first academic from the Faculty of Defence & Strategic Studies and General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) to proceed on a postdoctoral fellowship. Dr. Senaratne is also the only female academic at the Department of Strategic Studies to hold a doctorate. Her doctoral research was titled “An Analysis of Sri Lanka-China Bilateral Relations from 1994 to 2015”. During her Postdoctoral Fellowship, Dr. Senaratne will contribute to the NYU’s “Port Cities” project.
